Vintage 1960s cameo brooch from 1965-1966. This beautiful brooch featured a women carved from a peach coloured shell set in a 9ct gold mount. The brooch is secured with a roll over clasp and for extra security a safety chain.
The brooch has a number of hallmarks indicating the piece was hallmarked in Birmingham, England crafted from 9ct gold in 1965-1966. The maker of the piece was 'WJP'.
Cameo jewellery became very popular in the early 19th century cameos features Roman women. Victorian women on the Grand Tour brought home these pieces from places such as Italy and Greece.
